Trying something new can be a brilliant way of banishing the winter blues. Thankfully, the Island is home to a bunch of unique activities – see five of our top picks below.
1. Walk with Alpacas and Llamas. Nestled in the countryside near Yarmouth, you’ll find West Wight Alpacas and Llamas, home to a group of friendly Suri alpacas and Argentine Wooly llamas.
2. Try your hand at water sports. As an Island, the Isle of Wight is tailor made for activities like surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing.
3. Find fossils. The Island is known as the Dinosaur Capital of Britain, with a stretch of coastline between Compton and Sandown a favourite for fossil hunters.
4. Meet donkeys. The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary makes for a great day out, with over 140 friendly rescued donkeys dotted across the site.
5. Steam through the countryside. Take a step back in time and hop aboard the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, an authentic experience of a bygone era of transport.
